過去進行時
——表示過去正在進行的動作，經(jīng)常用在when, while, as引導(dǎo)的狀語從句中。
結(jié)構(gòu)：was/were+doing
when my husband was going into the dining room this morning, he dropped some coins on the floor.
their father was watching tv while they were having dinner.
★變疑問句將be動詞移到句首
was their father watching tv while they were having dinner.
★變否定句在be動詞后面加 not
their father was not watching tv while they were having dinner.

過去進行時主要用于：
表示過去某個時刻或階段正在進行的動作。
e.g. at that time she was working in a pla unit.
那時她在解放軍某部工作。
what were you doing this time yesterday?
與這個時態(tài)連用的時間狀語常用：
at nine o`clock, this time last night, these days, at that time 等。
用 when 引導(dǎo)的時間狀語從句表示主句的動作正在進行的時間。
e.g. when he came in, i was reading a newspaper.
注：
1 、 while 引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句敘述過去的動作時，從句常用過去進行時。
e.g. i read a magazine while i was waiting for the bus.
2 、 when 用作并列連詞，意為'這時'，連接兩分句時，第一句多用過去進行時。
e.g. i was reading a newspaper when he came in.
一般過去時與過去進行時的區(qū)別：
一般過去時：強調(diào)過去某一時間開始或完成的動作。
過去進行時：強調(diào)過去某一時間正在進行的動作。
試區(qū)別下面兩句： we were building a reservoir last winter.
去年冬天我們在修建一座水庫。(可能尚未建成) we built a reservoir last winter.
去年冬天我們修建了一座水庫。(已經(jīng)建成)
